"1,000 Xing contacts are not a network," Christoph Burkard, Managing Director of Economic Development at Region Fulda GmbH, likes to say. As digital as we usually are when it comes to networking, our region ticks heartily analog. Because here, in exceptional cases, an entire event is organized with just a few phone calls. Thanks to relationships that have grown over the years, we have organized networks made of steel cables that promote the economy with bundled competencies.

A good 600-strong network offers founders and young entrepreneurs a wide range of support and networking opportunities. With a wide range of event formats, fresh startups are brought into contact with companies, banks and other partners here.

The Green Food Cluster has set itself the goal of linking innovations in the food industry more closely with the issue of sustainability. It has its roots in the food sector at Fulda University of Applied Sciences and supports the regional food industry in developing sustainable strategies. 

The goal of the partner network of eight organizations is to create an available network for the recruitment of young employees and to promote regional cooperation in the field of transition from school to work.

More than 30 craft businesses and manufactories from the Fulda region (Foll is a dialect term for Fulda), which focus on quality, sustainability and regional ties, have joined forces under the umbrella of the regional economic development agency. This enables the members to bundle their marketing activities. 

Directly or indirectly, conventional technologies such as the internal combustion engine affect one in seven jobs in the region. This network aims to identify the challenges of transformation in the automotive industry, develop solutions and exploit opportunities. 

"think together. learn from each other." - with this objective, the association organizes specialist lectures, workshops, discussion rounds, company visits and other events for the marketing and press officers of companies and institutions. 

The network connects existing initiatives and forms a new-work landscape in the district of Fulda. It helps to establish coworking spaces and new organizational forms of work at the interface between communities and business.

The Regional Innovation Center for Health and Quality of Life Fulda started in 2018 as a project of the federal-state initiative "Innovative University". After five successful years, RIGL has established itself as a transfer center and now continues to exist, funded by its own resources, as a scientific center of Fulda University of Applied Sciences.

Even in downtown Fulda, there are always retail spaces that are vacant following store closures. To find a successor as quickly as possible, Region Fulda is involved in the #FDimmo project.

Innovative companies from the fields of engineering, measurement and control technology, electrical engineering, and mechanical and plant engineering pool their interests here. In addition to the marketing of skilled workers and the regular exchange of ideas and experience, the association also promotes the active exchange of business and research.

A study on hydrogen-based transport logistics made a start. After the theoretical preliminary work, the practical phase was initiated with the founding of the HyWheels Hesse fleet cluster in Fulda. It covers the entire state of Hesse and the neighboring regions.

Great atmosphere, almost 5,000 euros in prize money and the chance to turn ideas into reality in our region: The firmly established annual event offers young innovative minds the opportunity to develop smart solutions for one of three given challenges within 25 hours. 

For almost 20 years, the interest group has represented its approximately 70 member companies with over 3,000 employees from the Rhön Industrial Park and the municipality of Eichenzell. The members are involved in working groups on important topics from the fields of energy, internet, school & business, training and safety.

"Kerbersch Koarl" is what the people of Fulda still call the large department store on Universitätsplatz, which closed in 2020. The upper floor of the traditional store has been home to the co-working space Co. + Karl since 2023. In addition to permanent offices, there are also several meeting rooms.

The community of retailers, restaurateurs and service providers is working together to improve the quality of the Bahnhofstrasse location. Actions that attract the public, such as the beautification of the streetscape and creative events, are financed by a self-imposed levy.

With about 160 members, whose common interest is information and communication technologies, Zeitsprung is the largest IT network in Hesse. Honorary member is Prof. Dr.-Ing. Horst Zuse, son of the computer inventor Konrad Zuse. Since 2009, Zeitsprung has been commissioned by the state of Hesse with the broadband consulting office for Eastern Hesse.

This future-oriented sector, which is divided into eleven submarkets, has high growth potential. There will be various projects here in Fulda in the future.
