First “Apprenticeship Day” in the Fulda District
Initiative by the Fulda Region Apprentice Program: Get to Know 30 Companies
Get to know several companies and their apprenticeship and degree programs all in one day—free of charge, either on a guided tour or on your own: For many high school students, Saturday, May 24, offers exactly this opportunity. On “Apprenticeship Day,” between 10:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., they can take a look behind the scenes at 30 companies in the city and district of Fulda and learn about apprenticeship programs and career opportunities.
The goal of the event is to provide young people with clear career guidance and to facilitate their first personal contact with potential employers. “We can explain and communicate a lot, but a personal impression is much more impactful,” explains Julian Heins from the Fulda district. “The young people have the chance to form their own impressions on-site and use these experiences to guide their career choices.” The day promises not only interesting presentations and information on apprenticeships and college, but also numerous hands-on activities that offer practical insight into the working world.
What makes this special: A total of ten routes are offered as scheduled tours, which can be taken either on foot or via a free shuttle and each lead to three training companies. The starting point is the ZOB. On three of the tours, interested participants can board in the regional centers of Hünfeld, Eichenzell, or Neuhof, so they don’t have to travel all the way to Fulda first. “With the job coaches and career counselors, students will also have expert guides at their side on this day—people who will accompany the tours and whom they can turn to at any time with questions,” explains Carla Baus from the Fulda district.
Alternatively, however, you can also make your own way to the companies at specified times. This allows you to decide for yourself which companies you would like to visit.
Apprenticeship Day is an initiative of the Azubi Region Fulda association, organized by the Fulda District and its partners: the Fulda Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Bad Hersfeld-Fulda Employment Agency, Region Fulda GmbH, and the Fulda District Craftsmen’s Association. In 2023, a similar event was offered for the first time as “Apprenticeship Night.” It was a success: 140 students participated at that time. For Vocational Training Day, the program has now been expanded. The ten tours can accommodate more than 200 young people.
All information about the routes and career opportunities offered by the companies, as well as the option to register, is available at: www.azubi.region-fulda.de/pages/tag-der-ausbildung.
